Bonka's parties
Incorporating role-play into children's lives adds variety, a change of pace, motivation and a lot of fun! It is widely agreed that learning takes place when activities are both engaging and memorable. Quieter children are given the chance through role-play to express themselves in a more forthright way. Playing Pirates & Mermaids, Cowboys & Indians, Spacemen & Aliens, Witches & Wizards for example can be very good for a child's development. However the set up and demands of many school classrooms mean opportunities for such role-play are limited.
Play is essential as it contributes to cognitive, physical, social and emotional wellbeing of children. Play also offers an ideal opportunity for parents to engage fully with their children. In an age of computer games children no longer have the regular stimulation of role-play.
